SINS Market Visit Report – Dollar Tree – Phoenix, AZ

The goal of this report to is share with the Canadian CPG / Retail industry our observations from our store visit to Dollar Tree stores in the United States.
This new competitor in the Canadian marketplace purchased Dollar Giant stores in Canada last October in order to gain a foothold in this market.
Dollar Tree is an innovative retailer that has grown extensively during the recent economic downturn and now operates over 4,100 stores across the US.
Their presence in Canada will add more fuel to the red hot Discount channel dominated today by Quebec-based Dollarama.
Dollar Tree will bring innovation to this retail segment and lend further legitimacy to the format. Suppliers – the time to take the “Dollar Store” channel seriously is now.
