Tribute – Wallace McCain – Canadian CPG Legend
By admin | May 15, 2011
Our industry lost a true pioneer on Friday with the passing of Wallace McCain, one of two prominent brothers from Florenceville, NB that build a strong CPG brand and a worldwide empire from the smallest of Maritime hamlets.
Growing up in the Maritimes, you learned two names at an early age – Irving & McCain. Both families were great entrepreneurs and both were generous with their wealth and Wallace McCain and his wife Margaret were philanthropic leaders.
Wallace McCain, moved on from the company that bore his name after a falling out with his brother Harrison and went on to revitalize an ageing Canadian food industry brand in Maple Leaf.
Much has been written already about Wallace McCain’s life and passing, including this interesting article from the Globe & Mail but we also wanted to show our respect for this industry leader (and fellow Maritimer). Our condolences go out to his family and the organizations on which he has left a lasting legacy.
